This is an interesting story…..and a great example of how, in their zeal to not do shit productive for the nation, leftists, democrats, speak right past the problem and the solution. The President elect has tweeted that if Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel cannot get control of the murder rate in the city (and I would argue the city as a whole) or that he needs to ask for federal assistance. I am sure under Trump that would actually INVOLVE some assistance rather than having a Loretta Lynch or Eric Holder type descend on the city to say how racist the cops are….but that is neither here nor there…..as Kermit the Frog would say in the Lipton Tea meme, “But that is none of my murder rate”.
Now, consider this, and let this soak in. There are a few elements to this story, or behind this story. One is that, of course, Chicago is legendarily corrupt…this isn’t a recent problem. By the time Jane Byrne was the mayor, 1979-1983, the first female mayor of a major city and, naturally a democrat, Chicago had turned a corruption and crime corner and started along a path from which it will never turn back.
Most of the crime in Chicago is black on black, black on Hispanic, Hispanic on black. This is neither a gun problem, a gun law problem, an education problem or a job problem….it is a savagery problem. The now defunct and destroyed Cabrini-Green housing projects were built at the confluence of two of the wealthiest portions of the city and PROMPTLY descended into a regular, drug fueled, murderers row. Millions have been pumped into Chicago and the city, the nation, and the tax payer has not one damned thing to pay for it (well, we got Obama, so we sorta got a booby prize). When Kurt Russel was in the film “Escape from New York” neither he, nor the film makers could have imagined that the real setting should have been the windy city.

Another element, along with the traditional, almost business as usual corruption of the city, is the incompetence of its’ leaders. If you point to any of the top US urban shitholes, they all have one thing in common; long time, often uninterrupted, “leadership” by democrat leaders, the very definition of incompetence. Currently you can point to Houston, Chicago, New York, Flint, Detroit, LA and San Francisco, all of which suck money like a piglet getting milk off a teat, and all of which are experiencing rapid increases in crime, and all of which have deplorable school systems (ST Louis and KCMO are not far behind on that list). Liberalism was once the promise that merely bore no fruit, and it has grown into a lie with no fruit to bear. These once great cities went down the liberal, incompetent worm hole and have very little chance of recovering.
A key factor, and this comes out loud and clear in this story, and is typical of “liberal leadership”, is that not only has liberalism caused the problem, and then liberalism mis-categorized the problem, but liberalism has solutions that won’t fix the problem.
Read what mayor Emanuels’ spokesman, Adam Collins, said. “As the president-elect knows from his conversation with the mayor, we agree the federal government has a strong role to play in public safety by funding summer jobs and prevention programming for at-risk youth, by holding the criminals who break our gun laws accountable for their crimes, by passing meaningful gun laws, and by building on the partnerships our police have with federal law enforcement. We are heartened he is taking this issue seriously and look forward to working with the new administration on these important efforts.”
Now, that entire statement is a delusional lie…and as a former leader let me explain something to you….if you are a leader, the last thing you want is for your boss to come in and straighten out your shit. In the real world that is tantamount to failure. I understand that, in democrat circles where nothing is ever the fault of the person that is to fault, this is an intellectual safety valve, but it is bullshit. You fix your own problems. Emanuel knew what he was getting into and he ran for and was elected TWICE for mayor. Clearly he AND the electorate there do not care about success. “”Summer jobs” is a feel good euphemism that doesn’t mean shit and won’t accomplish shit. Do you think that a teen or young, chronological adult, who would shoot a cop, or another gang member for being on the wrong street, gives a shit about work? No. Now, on a broader front, jobs PERIOD would be helpful, but so would teens knowing who and where their father is, and HIM having a job. “Meaningful gun laws” is another euphemism. If you are shooting it out on Chicagos’ south side, ANY gun law is not meaningful to you. Chicago already has some of the harshest, anti-gun laws in the nation…..which as far as I can tell are obeyed only by law abiding citizens. And while we are at it…..holding ANY law breaker accountable would be a good first step, not just holding those accountable that break the anti-gun laws. “Partnerships” with federal law enforcement is classic. The city of Chicago could get that partnership if it would do its’ job. If I was President Trump I would give the city a partnership, but it would not be the one it wanted.

In the end, like all things liberal, Chicago wants change without having TO change.
And on a side note, Emanuel was one of the mayors that petitioned Obama to protect its’ lllegally proclaimed “sanctuary city”, even saying to illegals that they would be safe there. Seriously…NOBODY is safe there. And in their mind apparently the cost benefit analysis is worth it. And black Americans in Chicago should pay attention…because as they cause the crime rate, and allow the crime rate to overcome them, and certainly think nobody cares…..pay close attention….because once all of the new, undocumented, illegal liberals flow into the city, Chicago leadership won’t care about the plight, self imposed or not, of the black Chicagoan at all.
And yes….you may consider this a prediction.
