This is the way it is done…..if you do not like the law,
then change the law.
As we get closer to 2020, the left is ramping up all of
their efforts to delegitimize the United States. The story below is one that is pretty much
buried in the news….but has HUGE impacts on our nation AS a nation under the
Constitution.
I have exhausted myself trying to win the argument FOR the
electoral college…but in simple terms, if you want your state to be governmental
shithole that is New York, California, New Jersey, or Illinois, you want to
kill the electoral college. If you want
a republic….save the Electoral College…..because that is the ONLY thing between
us and the tyranny of the left.
Rep.
Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., introduced a pair of constitutional amendments to
eliminate the Electoral College, saying it was "outdated." “Americans expect and deserve the winner of
the popular vote to win office,” Cohen said at the time. “More than a century
ago, we amended our Constitution to provide for the direct election of U.S.
Senators. It is past time to directly elect our president and vice president.”
Cohens’
comment and proposal is a monstrous affront to the idea of America. The seventeenth amendment to the US
Constitution was the largest Constitutional tragedy of the 1900’s. The Constitution provided for the House of
Representatives to represent the people of the individual states. The Senate members were to represent the
state itself….the interests of that state.
Any state could chose its’ individual senators in pretty much any way it
wanted; the 17th amendment, making it a REQUIREMENT that states
popularly elect its’ senators, eliminated the ability of the states to have
representation (and, coincidentally, helped make the courts the final arbiter
of state issues). Americans SHOULD NOT
expect and deserve the winner of the popular vote to win office….the Constitution
SPECIFICALLY included the Electoral College to PREVENT that. Granted….the winner of the popular vote
usually DOES win the electoral college…..but not always. In 1876, 1888, 2000, and 2016 the popular
vote winner did not win the electoral college vote. In 1876 Republican Rutherford Hayes defeated
Samuel Tilden. In 1888 Republican
Benjamin Harrison defeated Democrat Grover Cleveland. In 2000 George W. Bush defeated Democrat Al
Gore, and in 2016 Republican Donald Trump defeated the wicked witch of the
left, Hillary Clinton.
You
see the pattern here, right? The left is
all about the process until the people don’t comply with the lefts views. In 2016, almost the entirety of the vaunted
“three million” votes Clinton claimed over Trump, came from California; and in
that state you have no idea how many of those votes were from citizens. With everything you know about
California…..do you want those people choosing the leader of the free world?
Principles
do not become “outdated”, which is why principles are the basis for all
beliefs. The lefts only principle, or at
least the base principle, is power……and the Constitution and its’ Electoral
College prevent the left from absolute power.
The Constitution is not outdated, the law is not outdated, the Electoral
College is not out dated…..
….the
democrat party, however…….
Excellent as always!
ReplyDeleteIt's ironic and hypocritical. If the 2016 election had gone the other way, that being Trump winning the popular vote but Hillary winning the electoral vote, the same Dems trying to abolish the electoral vote now would be singing the praises of the system! Everyone knows that.
