Make the carnage stop

This past Friday, marked the 14th murder of a black teen or child, in the Saint Louis Metro area.  Fourteen black children murdered, all by gunfire, since MARCH!

This story is not the lead story in any newspaper, or on any of the local TV and radio stations.  Yet, the local news that Janet and I watch every morning, carried a bullshit story on the commemoration ceremony of the first slaves to arrive in Virginia……three days after the 14th black child (she was eight years old) was killed in the city broadcasting the Virginia story.  In the video clips from Virginia you had your usual misinterpretations of history, but there was a young kid, probably younger than 15, extolling on how EVERYBODY needs respect, needs to be loved and treasured.  I agree, and I think whites of my generation have been telling the same to blacks of my generation for the ENTIRE generation.

It is REALLY difficult for me to care about the significance of the first African blacks, captured by African blacks, sold to England, and brought to the US……all of the ceremony, all of bluster…..when across the river, literally in eye sight, fourteen black children have been murdered since March….with no end to the violence in sight.  And let me tell you….in Saint Louis, the chance that a white person is involved in these shootings (any of them, as there is no evidence that they are connected), is absolutely…..zero.

The kid holding forth on how everyone needs to be loved, respected and treasured, is exactly correct.   However, he shouldn’t be focused on something that Africans and Englishmen did to his ancestors…..be should be focused on what the descendants of his ancestors are doing……to the descendants of his ancestors……

…..across the river….in Saint Louis.  What is happening there is not history….it is a tragedy.

I am a whitie….and I approve of this message.
